About this course on working with insomnia
Insomnia and sleep deprivation can be a serious problem for clients, whether it is the issue that causes them to seek out your services or a by-product of it. Helping clients to sleep better will improve their clarity of mind, memory, health, anxiety and depression levels and general well-being.
In this course we discuss all aspects of sleep:
- Module One is about getting a good night's sleep - what is sleep exactly, and what purpose does it serve?
- Module Two is about lifestyle issues that can contribute to a lack of sleep and suggests ways in which you can help your clients make better, sleep-friendly choices
- Module Three looks at health issues that can exacerbate or cause sleeplessness and how therapy can play a part
- Module Four looks at evidence-based programmes and other techniques to help clients experiencing sleep issues, including a wide range of sleep hygiene suggestions and a look at how you can work with these clients no matter what kind of talking therapy you offer.
The course is supported by slideshows, practical activities for you to carry out to consolidate your learning, links to wider reading and free resources to use with clients. It also contains a 'lifestyle and sleep' questionnaire to use with your clients.
Although by name, we're a hypnotherapy training organisation, this course is suitable for talking therapists of all kinds. It includes a script for those who do use this modality, but much of it can be used as a guided visualisation for those who don't work with trance.

Well, studying with YHT previously I know that the courses all have good content but I am surprised how generous this course has been with lots of content. Debbie, you have obviously put a great deal of time and effort into the syllabus. T Broughton
